Sweden’s largest gingerbread house

Tradition, fragrance and creativity in one – a Christmas experience for the whole family.

Information

For the fourth year in a row, the artist Erik Olof Wiklund, born in 1989 in Alfta, is the creator behind the giant gingerbread house in the museum’s entrance hall. Parts of the four-metre-high gingerbread house were baked together with children and older residents at Engmansgårdarna in Alfta, and as always, the artist has based it on his great-grandmother Märta’s gingerbread recipe.
This year, a touch of sustainability has been added to the 155 kg dough, as the house is largely baked using ingredients that have passed their best-before date.
