SHL: Växjö Lakers
When Växjö Lakers visit Monitor ERP Arena for SHL hockey, Brynäs IF face a club whose rise to the top is one of the most remarkable stories in modern Swedish ice hockey.
Information
Founded as recently as 1997, the Lakers started in Division 4 and needed just 14 years to reach Sweden’s highest level. Once there, it did not take long for the club to establish itself as a major force, winning four Swedish Championship titles between 2015 and 2023 and becoming one of the country’s most successful teams of that period. The contrast with Brynäs and their long history at the highest level adds another dimension to the fixture: one of Swedish hockey’s traditional powers faces a club that has created a winning tradition of its own in a remarkably short space of time. Växjö’s journey is a reminder of how quickly the hockey landscape can change when ambition, long-term planning and sporting success come together. At Monitor ERP Arena, two very different hockey stories now meet – one built over generations, the other written at extraordinary speed.
Doors open two hours before the game.
