The visitors from Västerbotten arrive in Gävle as reigning Swedish champions after a season in which they won both the regular season and the Swedish Championship. Skellefteå have been one of the leading forces in Swedish ice hockey for many years, building their success on a strong club culture, continuity and an impressive ability to develop players. Their journey is also a remarkable one – from spending many years outside the top division to establishing themselves as one of Sweden’s most successful teams during the 21st century. When Brynäs face Skellefteå, they are up against a team that knows what it takes to win and rarely gives anything away. It is an opportunity for Brynäs to test themselves against the champions in front of the home crowd – setting the stage for an SHL night with the potential to be something special.
