Hofors is located in the western parts of Gästrikland, close to the county of Dalarna. In Hofors you can play golf on one of Sweden's most beautiful 18-hole courses, visit Gammelstilla mill or marvel at the mystique of Storberget's mines and the "Stollgången" mine adit. For those interested in flowers and gardening, the Geranium Museum (Pelargonmuseum & Trädgård) in the village of Torsåker is a highlight. The area has a 2000-year-long tradition of ironworks and as a visitor you are able to see traces of ancient ironwork sites alongside the modern-day international steel factory of Ovako.
